Orioles Score 27 in Doubleheader Sweep

The Orioles offense exploded for 27 runs on Sunday to sweep Kenosha.
Lombard Orioles 14, Kenosha Kings 7
Lombard erased a 7-1 deficit by scoring 13 unanswered runs to defeat Kenosha 14-7 in the opener of a Wisconsin State League doubleheader on Saturday. Kenosha built its early lead behind RBIs from Jack Ryan and Josh Kellogg, then added two more runs in the fourth on Jacob Schlesselman’s RBI single. Lombard began its comeback with three runs in the sixth before tying the game with three more in the seventh, capitalizing on a pair of Kenosha errors. The Orioles then broke the game open with a seven-run eighth, highlighted by Frank Costabile’s two-run home run and four consecutive bases-loaded free passes that forced in two more runs before Brandon Pelz added an RBI groundout. Costabile finished 4-for-6 with a double, a home run, four RBIs, and four runs scored to lead Lombard’s offense. Kenosha collected 11 hits, including three from Schlesselman, but committed six errors in the loss. Mike Sullivan earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief after Lombard’s bullpen held the Kings scoreless over the final four innings.

Lombard used a six-run fourth inning to break open a tie game and defeat Kenosha 13-3 in game two of the doubleheader. The teams traded runs early, with the game tied 3-3 through three innings before Jacob Conniver hit a two-run homer, Joe Mrowiez followed with a solo shot, and Justin Canvin added a three-run homer to put the Orioles in control. Jake Troyner added a three-run homer in the fifth, and Jordan Vazquez drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Canvin finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while Conniver and Troyner each drove in three runs. Mrowiez also homered, and John Fleaka scored three times for Lombard. Kenosha got RBI hits from Jack Ryan and JT Reed, plus a sacrifice fly from AJ Orrico, but was held scoreless over the final three innings. Zach Toma worked five innings for Lombard, allowing three runs while striking out four.
