The Nationals and Orioles split their Saturday doubleheader.
West Allis Nationals 9, Lombard Orioles 8
West Allis built a seven-run lead, then held off a furious seventh-inning rally to edge the Lombard Orioles 9-8 in the opening game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Ryan Lemm powered the Nationals’ offense by going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, and five RBIs, including a two-run homer in the first inning and RBI doubles in the third and sixth. Joe Riley added a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, while Tyrese Mitchell finished with three hits, including a double, scored three times, and crossed the plate on Lemm’s first-inning blast. West Allis stretched its advantage to 9-2 after seven innings before Lombard erupted for six runs in the bottom of the seventh. Luca Stojakovic homered earlier in the inning and later delivered a two-run single, while Quinn Boyer added a two-run double to bring the Orioles within one. Brayden Ramus earned the win after allowing two runs over six innings, and EJ Kuster recorded the final out with the tying run on base to preserve the West Allis victory.
Lombard Orioles 5, West Allis Nationals 2
Lombard earned a split of Saturday’s doubleheader by defeating West Allis 5-2 in the nightcap. After West Allis grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first on Ryan Lemm’s RBI fielder’s choice, the Orioles answered with a four-run third inning. Constatine Coines tied the game with an RBI double before Jacob Conniver lined a two-run double to left, and Ricky Colazzo added a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1. Lombard added an insurance run in the fourth when Conniver drew a bases-loaded walk. Lewis Slade earned the win, allowing one run over five innings while striking out nine, and Mike Sullivan picked up the save by working the final two innings. Conniver finished with three RBIs, while Coines, Joe Mrowiez, and Will Potter each doubled for the Orioles. West Allis threatened late, scoring once in the seventh on Lemm’s sacrifice fly, but Sullivan stranded the tying run at first to secure the victory.
