Cavaliers Hold Off Late Red Sox Rally

The Eau Claire Cavaliers survived a late rally to begin a doubleheader Sunday, allowing three runs in the seventh before beating the Westmont Red Sox, 8-7.

The Eau Claire Cavaliers survived a late rally to begin a doubleheader Sunday, allowing three runs in the seventh before beating the Westmont Red Sox, 8-7. The Cavaliers also managed to take game two, 6-4.

Leading 5-4 entering the fifth inning of game one, Eau Claire’s Mike Darley blooped a base hit into center to score Jonathan Murphy for a two-run cushion. The Cavs would add two more in the sixth to take an 8-4 lead into the seventh inning.

With the wins, the Cavaliers improve to 18-11 overall this season. Eau Claire will host the East Side Merchants on Monday, July 12th. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
