WSL Saturday Recap: Nationals Advance To WABC Semi-Finals

The West Allis Nationals downed the Milwaukee Beavers 3-2 on Saturday afternoon to advance to Sunday's WABC semi-final round.

The late game Saturday night at the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Classic was a good news, bad news proposition for the Kenosha Kings.
On the good side was a 6-5 win over previously unbeaten Neosho, but the bad news was, even in victory, the Kings were ousted from the tournament based on run differential.
The 24-team, six-pool tournament that drew teams from Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin concluded Sunday in West Bend with the championship round. Kenosha finished the weekend at 2-1 and is 15-14 overall.
Kenosha also beat Brookfield and lost to West Allis.
Jason Bunton picked up the win over Neosho, as he worked a complete game and allowed four hits, five runs and struck out 13. Bunton (5-1) had a no-hitter into the sixth inning and a shutout into the seventh.

The West Allis Nationals downed the Milwaukee Beavers 3-2 on Saturday afternoon to advance to Sunday morning’s semifinal round versus the Lannon Stonemen at West Bend High School at 10am.
Jimmy Jungbauer earned the complete game victory, allowing only five hits while striking out four. Max Widmar and Brian Huntzinger led the offense.
Sheboygan A’s 5, 0, Chicago Clout 2, 10
The Sheboygan A’s split a doubleheader against the Chicago Clout Saturday, winning the first game 5-2 while dropping the nightcap 10-0.
In game one, Sheboygan’s Brandon Winfield struck out nine in a four-hit, one-walk complete game victory.
Taylor Grimm got an RBI-single in the first inning and his double and Dan Barwick’s triple keyed a four-run third inning.
Barwick reached base four times with two walks. Harry Steld added two hits for Sheboygan.
In the loss, Chicago’s three pitchers combined for five innings of shutout baseball while its offense scored six runs in the first inning.
The A’s collected their first hit in the fifth inning.
