An early lead helped the Kenosha Kings defeat the Addison Braves 12-2 on Sunday in the Wisconsin State League opener for both teams.
An early lead helped the Kenosha Kings defeat the Addison Braves 12-2 on Sunday in the Wisconsin State League opener for both teams.
Jason Bunton earned the win for Kenosha. He threw five innings, surrendering two runs, four hits, and striking out seven. Darren Davis took the loss for Addison. He pitched one and one-third innings, surrendering four runs, and two hits.
The Kings had nine hits in the game. Michael Szeszol and Travis Vanderwall each collected multiple hits for Kenosha. Szeszol, Jason Dennis, and Paul Pulera each drove in two runs to lead Kings.
Addison took an early lead in the second inning with a single on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Kenosha took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom half of the second inning.
Kenosha was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Cyle Hartwig had the most chances in the field with ten.
