As the Greater Green Bay Blue Ribbons continue to build their roster for the 2021 season, they announced the addition of six more players, including four players returning from last year’s team, and a fifth who played with the De Pere Dodgers for four seasons.
Shortstop Griffin Summers, a 2017 Preble graduate who has spent the past three seasons with the Ribbons/Dodgers, appeared in a team-high 43 games last season, hitting .294 while collecting 42 hits and scoring 33 runs. A table-setter at the top of the lineup, Summers provides Greater Green Bay with some stability and veteran leadership as a strong defensive presence up the middle.
Infielder Ethan Habetler, a freshman at South Suburban College, who played his high school baseball at West De pere, will also be back, after he saw action in 26 games for the Blue Ribbons last season. A versatile infielder, Habetler hit .275 with an OPS of .726, while seeing time at third base, shortstop and second base.
Tony Marquardt, a left-handed hurler who logged 20 innings on the mound during his first season with the Blue Ribbons in 2020, will also be returning. He started three of the six games he worked in last year, striking out 16 batters while posting an ERA of 5.40.
The fourth returning player is Trevor Olmsted, another Preble grad, who played for the Dodgers in 2019 and the Blue Ribbons in 2020. Playing second base and third base last season, while also pitching in seven games, Olmsted has experience as both a starter and a reliever and finished among the top five on the team in innings pitched.
The Ribbons will also welcome back another familiar face with the return of Noah Robinson, who played for the De Pere Dodgers from 2016-2019. Named to the Wisconsin State League’s All-League First Team in 2018, Robinson will offer some outfield help and added pitching depth.
The sixth player added for 2021 will be newcomer Adam Gutschow, a junior infielder at UW-Platteville. A Southern Door graduate from Brussels, Gutschow hit an even .200 in limited action with the Pioneers last year before the season was cut short due to COVID.
The Blue Ribbons 2021 season will begin in late May, with their first Wisconsin State League game scheduled for Tuesday, June 1st, when they host the Sheboygan A’s at Joannes Stadium.
