Wisconsin State League Announces 2024 Award Winners

The Wisconsin State League has announced its award winners for the 2024 season. Winners were determined by a vote of League General Managers, Managers, and team personnel.

The Wisconsin State League has announced its award winners for the 2024 season. Winners were determined by a vote of League General Managers, Managers, and team personnel.

WSL Most Valuable Player: Brian Huntzinger, West Allis Nationals

WSL Most Valuable Pitcher: Owen DePrez, Green Bay Blue Ribbons

WSL Rookie Player of the Year: Charlie Parcell, Lombard Orioles

WSL Rookie Pitcher of the Year: Tyler Bartczak, Lombard Orioles

WSL Manager of the Year: Jeff Vukovich, Lombard Orioles

Brian Huntzinger is the League’s MVP for the second consecutive season. Appearing in 26 of 27 games for the Nationals, Huntzinger batted .340, collecting 35 hits and knocking in 21 runs during the season. In total, Huntzinger also was the league’s top fielder with a 1.000 fielding percentage in 113 total chances.

Owen Deprez was named the League’s Most Valuable Pitcher, as the Blue Ribbons’s ace finished with a 1.77 ERA in 31.2 innings pitched. Deprez struck out 53 of the 139 batters he faced over the summer, finishing with a 5-1 record.

Charlie Parcell appeared in 20 games for the Lombard Orioles in 2024, hitting .350 during his first season to win Rookie Player of the Year honors. Parcell produced 28 total runs for the league champions.

Tyler Bartczak joins teammate Charlie Parcell from Lombard as an award winner in 2024, taking home the Rookie Pitcher of the Year award. Bartczak started five games for the Orioles and ended the season with a 2.63 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched. Bartczak finished 3-2 in 2024.

Jeff Vukovich was voted the League’s Manager of the Year for the 17th time in his career, after guiding the Orioles to the 2024 Wisconsin State League championship. The Orioles finished the year at 16-6, just ahead of second-place Green Bay at 15-8.

Also being recognized is Rob Marinec of the Lombard Orioles, who hit .393 to earn the league’s leading hitter honors. Chase Hanselman of the Sheboygan A’s was runner up at .372.
