Nationals Complete Season-Opening Sweep of Braves

The West Allis Nationals completed their season-opening sweep of Addison on Saturday.

West Allis erased a five-run deficit with a seven-run seventh inning to rally past Addison 12-7. The Braves built a 5-2 lead through four innings behind RBI hits from JD Swarbrick and Connor Peckham, along with sacrifice flies from Nik Dabrowski and Swarbrick. Max Montgomery kept the Nationals close early with a two-run homer in the second, and West Allis chipped away with runs in the fifth and sixth, including an RBI single by Tyrese Mitchell and a sacrifice fly from Brian Huntzinger. Trailing 7-5 entering the seventh, the Nationals exploded for seven runs as Dalton Madsen delivered a bunt single, Andrew Carlson drew a bases-loaded walk, Mitchell drove in a run on a groundout, and Jonah Meidl broke the game open with a three-run double. Meidl finished with three RBIs, Montgomery scored three times and homered, while Mitchell reached base three times, scored twice, and stole two bases. Addison was led by Peckham, who went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Lewis Barbour, Lou Ratcliffe, Hunter Johnson, and Swarbrick each scored a run. Evan Senobe earned the win in relief for West Allis, striking out six over 2.1 innings as the Nationals completed the comeback.

West Allis scored in five of the first six innings and received strong pitching to defeat Addison 8-2. The Nationals struck first in the opening inning when Tyrese Mitchell walked, stole a base, and eventually scored on a bases-loaded walk. After Addison tied the game in the bottom half on an RBI double from Joe Stagowski, West Allis answered with a four-run second inning highlighted by RBI singles from Parker Wyatt and Jonah Meidl and a two-run double by Max Montgomery. The Nationals added insurance runs in the fourth and fifth as Nick Argersinger drove in Meidl with a single, Brian Huntzinger lifted a sacrifice fly, and Kaleb Zabieski delivered an RBI single. Joe Riley paced the offense with a 2-for-3 performance that included a double, two runs scored, and a stolen base, while Montgomery finished with two RBIs and a double. Addison managed seven hits, led by Lou Ratcliffe’s 2-for-4 day that included a triple and a run scored, while Hunter Johnson added two hits and an RBI. On the mound, Joe Roundtree and Dylan Feldkamp combined to limit the Braves to two runs, with Feldkamp earning the win after striking out six over three innings of relief.
