Powered by strong pitching performances in all four games, the Sheboygan A’s swept a Saturday/Sunday home-and-home doubleheader weekend.

The Green Bay Blue Ribbons were back home on Sunday for a double header with the Burlington Barons. The games featured first ceremonial pitches from the dads of various Blue Ribbons throwing to their sons, dads playing catch on the field in between games, and beautiful clear skies, perfect conditions for some baseball.

The Nationals swept a Saturday afternoon doubleheader from the Lombard Orioles Saturday, winning by scores of 4-3 and 4-2.

The Blue Ribbons fell to the Burlington Barons Saturday night 10-8.

The A’s fell behind early Thursday night and couldn’t fully erase the deficit as the Burlington Barons took the game by a 7-3 score.

It was an extremely tough night for the Kings Thursday night, as they surrendered 20 hits, eight of them for extra-bases as the Nationals easily dispatched the Kings 20-0.

The Burlington Barons pounded out 18 hits, with three players recording three or more as the Barons easily grabbed a 14-0 victory over Kenosha Wednesday night.

After a weekend that saw them go 1-2 and fall to 2-7 in the Wisconsin State League after errors cost them in an extra-innings game against league-leading Lombard, the A’s put together a complete game performance on the road Tuesday night, shutting out Green Bay 12-0.

The Wisconsin State League Challenge is a series of regular-season games all taking place over the weekend in Sheboygan. It was created in the early 2010s to add games to the league schedule while reducing the overall travel of teams, by hosting it in a neutral location. Sheboygan has hosted the majority if not all of the Challenge each season.

The Lombard Orioles and West Allis Nationals remain atop the Wisconsin State League standings after Thursday's games.
